Huge plumes of thick black smoke and flames were seen in Calgary’s southeast community of Deer Run Sunday.
Emergency crews were called to a home along Deer Run Drive around 6:20 p.m., where a home was fully consumed by fire.
The Calgary Fire Department’s aerial unit was using a ladder truck to attack the fire from above, while residents in nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.
It’s unclear whether anyone was inside the home when the fire started. There were no initial reports of injuries.
The investigation continues into the cause.
