One person is dead after a serious vehicle collision in Pitt Meadows early Wednesday morning.
The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on Lougheed Highway near Harris Road.
A tarp could be seen on the roadway, along with a blue Toyota vehicle a short distance away.
Ridge Meadows RCMP has confirmed to Global News that a pedestrian was struck and died at the scene.
Police have not said if a driver has been arrested, nor if they are cooperating with an investigation.
Members of the RCMP’s collision analysis and reconstruction unit have been deployed to investigate the crash.

Lougheed Highway is closed westbound at Harris Road, while two eastbound lanes are also blocked after the Pitt River Bridge at Allen Way.
Police are asking drivers to take a detour and to expect delays in the area.
There is no estimated time for when the highway will re-open.
