Teen fatally stabbed in Halifax: Court hears disturbing details in statements of fact

The grim details of the stabbing death of a 16-year-old Halifax boy last April were revealed in court today as convictions were recorded for two teens who had pleaded guilty to taking part in the crime.

In October, a 14-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of Ahmad Maher Al Marrach.

The 16-year-old was found badly injured in a parking garage next to the Halifax Shopping Centre on April 22, and he died in hospital.

Today, agreed statements of fact were read into the record during a hearing in Nova Scotia youth court.

Two other teenage boys — ages 17 and 15 — are facing trials for second-degree murder later this year.

All four of the accused had been initially charged with second-degree murder.
