The Beaches Are Back: A New Album, G-Flip Collab & Major Fan Moments

Back from a trip to Europe, where The Beaches were throwing DJ parties, Leandra Earl says she may have found a new calling, “I’m like hitting some hot cues – it’s really fun! I really want to sit down and work at it when I have a chance, when I’m home.” At this point, she wouldn’t call herself a DJ, but she and the girls have found the perfect balance between playing music and partying. She says, “If one of us is up there deejaying, the rest are just like dancing in the crowds and taking shots with fans. And like, it’s just a big party.”

When will she take on this new endeavor? Who’s to know. She says that lately, she feels like she’s living out of a suitcase. The Beaches have spent much of the year touring and traveling. Now, they’re set to release their new album on August 29. Life isn’t about to slow down – especially if the first single off the album tells us anything.
It’s aptly titled Last Girls at the Party, and it’s a bright, irresistible alt-rock/pop-rock party anthem with an indie-pop flair. The song was created during a playful jam session with close friend and Australian musician-slash-producer G Flip. “G was like, ‘let’s just try a session, let’s just have fun,’” Leandra says.

Despite being a rock star, touring the world, and collaborating with a superstar bestie, Leandra brushes off the idea of being famous. Her focus is on the fans. “I’m not Harry Styles; they’re not chasing me. It’s just like someone, being like, ‘Oh my God, I love your band!’ and I’m like, ‘that’s so cool!’ and I go up to them and shake their hand…I am a fan of someone being a fan of us because I am so appreciative.”
