A power outage in the west end of Ottawa is affecting some 17,000 residents on Wednesday afternoon.
Hydro Ottawa’s outage map shows a large swath of the grid along Highway 417, covering large portions of Bay and College wards.
Power also appears to be out for parts of Ottawa’s Carlington and Westboro neighbourhoods.

Hydro Ottawa’s website shows 16,980 customers are without power as a result of the outages.
The local utility said on Twitter that it is aware of the outage, which it says was caused due to a loss of power from the provincial grid.
The outage map shows power is expected to return by 5 p.m.
